Generator Bearing & Rotor

Bearing:-

The Turbo generators are provided with pressure lubricated self-aligning elliptical type bearing to ensure higher mechanical stability and reduced vibration in operations the bearing are either and shield mounted or pedestal type suitable temperature measurement device are mounted in the bearing to monitor bearing metal temp in operation.

 

Bearing insulation:-

To prevent damage to the journals due to shaft currents bearing and oil pumps either side are insulated from the foundation frame for facilitating and monitoring of healthiness of bearing insulation split insulation is provided.

Rotor:-

Solid Rotors are manufactured from forged alloy steel with suitable alloying elements to achieve very high mechanical and superior magnetic properties rectangular type zooidal rotor slots are accurately machined to close tolerance on special slot milling machine for indirectly cooled generator rotors ventilation slots are machined in teeth.

For directly cooled rotors sub slits are provided for cooling generator rotor’s 1500r.p.m. are of finding laminated construction punched and varnished laminations of the high tensile shaft and are firmly clamped by end clamping plates.

Rotor coils:-

Rotor coils are of half coil or continuously wound type and are manufactured from solid/hollow silver bearing electrolytic copper strips having high conductivity and creep resistance for generators of 1500r.p.m insulated copper strips formed into continuous helical coils are used.

Interterm insulators:-

Hardened glass laminators with suitable resins are used as intern insulation. The insulation is thermally consolidated to form a compactness capable of withstanding mechanical forces in operation.

For generators of 1500r.p.m, the rotor after winding is subjected to impregnation in epoxy resin followed by cursing which results in the good bonding between layers and a highly compact insulation.
