Turbo Generators-Their sizes:

In the table, I, II, III the various standard sizes of the Air/Hyderabad cooled Turbo generator (3000r.p.m) (Air cooled manufactured at BHEL Hyderabad are indicated at additional BHEL can undertake to manufacture tailor-made Turbo generator to suit specific customer requirement.

Stator:-

Stator frame is of welded steel single piece construction with radial and axial ribs having adequate strength and rigidity to minimize core vibration and is suitably designed to ensure efficient cooling guide bar welded or belted onside the stator frame over which the core is assembled.

In the case of 1500r.p.m generator’s stator frame is made of 2 end clamping plates with axial ribs welded around the periphery after core assembly.

Stator core:-

Stator core is made of silicon steel sheets with high permeability and low hysteresis and eddy current losses stator laminations are coated with core plate varnish and are stacked and held between sturdy steel clamping plates with non magnetic pressing fingers which are fastened/welded to stator frame the core end regions are suitable designed for reducing the stray load losses.

In the case of the 1500r.p.m generator’s to achieve smooth voltage waveform the core is skewed during manufacture and assembly of laminations.

End covers:-

End covers are fabricated or cost non-magnetic steel or aluminium alloy constructions are employed in guide vanes for ensuring uniform distribution of cooling air in the case of 1500r.p.m generator’s and winding are first enclosed in glass roving with an overall steel outer cover provided over the stator.
